Family and Friends


  • Public visitation is held:
    • Sundays 1:00pm-4:00pm (last scheduled visit starts at approximately 3:20)
    • Mondays 6:35pm-8:15pm (last scheduled visit starts at approximately 7:45)
    • Wednesdays 6:35pm-8:15pm (last scheduled visit starts at approximately 7:45)
    • Saturdays 7:00am-10:00 am (last scheduled visit starts at approximately 9:20)


  • Visitors must make an appointment by contacting jail staff at least 12 hours in advance of the requested visit.

  • There is a 5 minute block in between visits to sanitize the visitation booth in between visitors.
  • Each inmate will be allowed one 30-minute visit per week.
  • Inmates are allowed up to three (3) visitors for that one 30-minute visit per week.  
  • The visitation week starts on Sunday. 
  • Visitors may only visit one inmate per visitation day. 
  • Persons under the age of 18 are only allowed to visit if they are immediate family members (brother, sister, son, or daughter) to the inmate and must be accompanied by a family member or court-appointed guardian who is an adult (age 18 or older).  Visitors under 18 years of age cannot be left unattended.  
  • Visitors arriving for visitation with an inmate who has not designated that specific visitor on their visitor’s list will not be allowed to visit, regardless of relationship to the inmate.  
  • Visitors will be required to abide by the jail rules and regulations pertaining to mail, food, newspapers, magazines, etc., and are not allowed to bring in any items for inmates. 
  • Visitors displaying other than orderly conduct while in the confines of the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department will not be allowed to visit on that day.  Such visitors may be permanently banned during the inmate’s period of incarceration, and may be  subject to the penalties of Section 947.01, Wisconsin Statutes, and Disorderly Conduct. 
  • Absolute sobriety will be required.  Visitors suspected of being under the influence of an intoxicant or other drug will not be allowed to visit, and may be tested for driving ability before leaving this facility via
    • PBT (Preliminary Breath Test),
    • Intoximeter, and/or
    • Standard Field Sobriety Tests
  • Inmates requesting to send items home with visitors must submit a detailed, written request at least 24 hours in advance of visit.  Requests shall contain the specific items to be released and must be signed and dated with the current date. 
  • Inmates being held on new criminal charges who have not yet seen a judge/court commissioner will not be allowed visitors.        
  • Inmates on probation/parole status may have restricted visitors and/or phone calls as deemed appropriate by their probation/parole agent. 
  • Former inmates having been housed in the main portion of this facility who want to visit a current inmate must have been released at least three months prior to the date of the intended visit. 
  • If a no-contact order exists between inmate and visitor, the visit will be denied.
  • Appropriate attire is required.  This will be jail staff discretion. 
  • No hats, caps, or head coverings will be allowed into the visitation room.
  • Inmates requesting special consideration for visitation privileges must make a written request to the Jail Administrator one (1) week in advance of expected visit.


Depositing money for inmates:

  1. Visit the website JailATM™
  2. Friends and family will need to create a username and password to add funds.
  3. Once logged in, click on SEND MONEY NOW. This will get you to a screen of dropdown choices.
  4. On drop down choices select: State=WI > Facility Name=Iowa County Sheriff’s Dept > Last Name=Inmates last name. These are required fields to be able to access the screen that require your credit card information.

  1. The Iowa County Jail’s commissary provider is Stellar Services, LLC. Commissary is ordered by the inmates, via the computerized phone system. Inmates may simply pick up the phone and select a code to order commissary. Inmates may update or delete their orders at any time during the week. Commissary is processed and orders are packed and delivered on Wednesday of each week (excluding holidays). Inmates must sign for their commissary orders.

Inmate Property:

  1. Must have a request in from the inmate
  2. Inmates can release property to visitors. A request slip must be filled out by the inmate prior to the property being released. When releasing property, the inmate must release all of their property to the same person. They can’t pick individual items to be released.
  3. Any unclaimed property after the inmate’s release will be disposed of in accordance with Iowa County Jail’s procedures.
  4. Inmates cannot have property dropped off for them. The inmate must purchase items, including hygiene items, from the commissary service provided at the jail.

Inmate Phone Minutes:

  1. Inmates can use money from their commissary account to purchase phone time. Money can be added to JailATM™
