NARCAN® Direct Program

Iowa County Public Health provides naloxone administration training to individuals in Iowa County as part of the NARCAN® Direct Program thorough the Wisconsin Department of Health and Human Services. Free NARCAN® is available once you attend the training.

What is NARCAN®? 

NARCAN® nasal spray is the brand name of naloxone and is a safe, effective way to reverse the effects of an opioid-related overdose by restoring breathing. NARCAN® begins working in 2-3 minutes and continues working for 30-90 minutes.

How can I get NARCAN®? 

One-on-One training is available at the Iowa County Health Department- Health and Human Services Building- 303 West Chapel Street, Dodgeville, WI 53533. Call 608-930-9870 to schedule a training. Attendees will get the tools and skills to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Following training, you can get your FREE NARCAN® nasal spray kit. Each kit includes two doses of NARCAN® nasal spray.

Do you need to be a medical provider to use NARCAN®? 

No, anyone can learn how to use and give NARCAN®.
