Born and raised in Iowa County, JA Peterson has focused his Law Enforcement career to Iowa County.  After graduating from Dodgeville High School, he attended Southwest Tech, obtaining his State of Wisconsin Law Enforcement Certification.  While attending SWTC he interned with Iowa County Sheriff’s Office, and was hired as Correctional Officer/Dispatcher.  JA Peterson has worked Corrections, Communications, Patrol, Director of Court Security, and Jail Administrator. 

JA Peterson is a graduate of National Command & Staff College.  He is a law enforcement liaison to Iowa County Treatment Court.  With these two accomplishments, he continues to focus on leadership development, substance abuse, and mental health.   He is committed to creating a safe and positive atmosphere for staff and an atmosphere for inmates to develop themselves and reduce recidivism. 

While not at work, JA Peterson coaches soccer, co-chairs Iowa County Substance Misuse Prevention Committee, is a member of Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and spends time with friends and family.
