Law Enforcement Center

In 2016, Iowa County hired Venture Architects to complete a space needs study looking at the existing jail and law enforcement center.  In August of 2017, the Iowa County Board approved a resolution establishing a Jail Building Committee.  The Jail Building Committee is reviewing our existing jail facility and employee working conditions to craft a plan for a new Law Enforcement Center.   The Iowa County Board voted in December of 2018 to hire Potter Lawson as the Architect and in February 2019 to hire Kramer Brothers as the Construction Manager for the new Iowa County Law Enforcement Center Project.

On March 11, 2020, after many hours of meetings and collaboration by a large group of people that included the Jail Building Committee, the Iowa County Board of Supervisors passed, by a majority vote, the recommendation of the Jail Building Committee to build the new Law Enforcement Center. The new Law Enforcement Center will be located east of the current Highway Department facility. The building will house the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa County Jail, as well as Iowa County Emergency Management and Iowa County Coroners’ Office. Ground breaking on the new facility occurred on April 13, 2020 and site work is moving ahead at a good pace.

The support of County Board members, citizens and staff is appreciated and it is expected that the involvement of those members continue into the next phase of this project.

We are excited to have a facility that will allow the space to work effectively and efficiently while maintaining the safety and security of inmates, the public users and staff as we continue to serve the citizens of Iowa County.
