The Dare Program is taught in four schools by Iowa County Deputy Bryan Bilse.  The elementary children at Barneveld, Highland, Iowa-Grant, and Ridgeway are taught how to make good choices and decisions concerning alcohol and drugs.  The DARE program lasts 12 weeks and usually starts in January.

DARE stands for DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION.  It was started in Los Angeles, California in 1983 and has been taught in Iowa County for over a decade now.  The DARE Program is taught to 36 million children in 43 countries world wide.

Deputy Bilse completed DARE training in 1998 and has been teaching the program in Iowa County Schools since 2000.  Deputy Bilse is assigned to second shift patrol when not teaching DARE.  If you have any questions about DARE, please contact Deputy Bilse at the Iowa County Sheriff's Department, (608)935-3314.
